Masagos Zulkifli
Tampines West

Mr Masagos Zulkifli BMM is the Member of Parliament for Tampines GRC and the Minister of State in the Ministry of Education and Ministry of Home Affairs.

Mr Masagos says “Serving the residents for the past few years has been a wonderful experience. Together with our committed group of grassroots members, I celebrated their joy, tried to reduce their sorrow and worked to shape our collective identity. It has been humbling and eye-opening. Residents are kind and approachable. I feel embraced and accepted by the residents and this has further strengthened my conviction to continue make Tampines a great place we can all call home.”

Mr Masagos Zulkifli BMM is the Member of Parliament for Tampines GRC and the Minister of State in the Ministry of Education and Ministry of Home Affairs. He is also the Chairman of the National Committee on Youth Guidance and Rehabilitation (NYGR).

Mr Masagos has a First Class Honours Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical and Electronic Engineering) degree from Nanyang Technological University (NTU), a Masters of Science from the National University of Singapore (NUS) and a Masters of Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Southern California (USC).

As the Adviser to Tampines West Grassroots Organisations, Mr Masagos has always done things with the interest and welfare of the residents at heart. He mooted the idea of opening up facilities in schools for residents’ recreational use, after school hours on week-nights and during weekends. This is to maximise usage of community infrastructure for the benefit of residents.

Mr Masagos actively strives to cultivate an inclusive and harmonious community, where everyone has a place and a part to play. Mr Masagos strongly believes that the interest and understanding of the cultures of major ethnic groups in Singapore, must be cultivated at a young age. This is why he introduced learning journeys for primary school students to learn about the various celebrations and cultures through events organised by Tampines West Grassroots Organisations (GRO). Mr Masagos also launched the Community Scholarship Programme, to create awareness and interest among young people who serve the community and in turn, increase their sense of belonging to the community.

Mr Masagos is married to Jumelah Ja’afar and has four children aged between 12 and 21. An avid fan of outdoor activities, Mr Masagos enjoys hiking and trekking with his family and friends.
